What landscape lighting is

The One Upgrade You See Every Night

Landscape lighting is a designed low voltage system placed around your property: uplights on the house and trees, path lights along the walks, and accents on the details worth pulling out of the dark.

Most homes are invisible after sunset. You pull into the driveway and everything you have put into the brick, the plantings, the stonework, and the front entry is simply gone until morning. Lighting is what gives you those hours back, and you get them back every single night of the year.

The design is the part that matters. Fixture placement, beam spread, and aiming decide whether a facade looks intentional or looks like someone put spotlights in the mulch. We walk the property with you, work out what should draw the eye and what should stay quiet, and aim every fixture after dark when we can actually see the result.

There is a practical side too. Lit steps and walkways are safer to use, a lit property is harder to approach unnoticed, and a driveway you can see the edges of is easier to back out of. Curb appeal is the reason most people call. Safety is the reason they are glad they did.

You own the system. It is built on premium LED fixtures that carry the manufacturer's warranty, with terms that vary by product line, plus a 2 year workmanship warranty from us, so it is not something you are budgeting to replace in a few seasons.

What's included
  • On site design consultation walked at dusk
  • Premium low voltage LED fixtures and transformer
  • Professional installation with no damage to your landscaping
  • Night aiming and final adjustment of every fixture
  • Manufacturer's warranty on the fixtures, terms vary by product line
  • 2 year workmanship warranty on our installation

The system is yours. These are lights that live outside, so a yearly cleaning keeps them looking right, and an optional annual maintenance plan is available if you would rather we handle it.

The process

How It Works

Four steps from a dark property to one that looks better at 9pm than it does at noon.

  1. Consult & Design

We walk the property with you, usually near dusk, and work out what is worth lighting. You get a fixture by fixture plan and a firm price before anything is ordered.

  2. Professional Installation

Fixtures are set and wire is tucked into a narrow slit along bed and lawn edges rather than trenched, so the yard closes back up within a mowing or two.

  3. Night Aiming

We come back after dark and aim every fixture, because a light aimed in daylight is a guess. This is the step that separates a designed system from a row of spotlights.

  4. Enjoy It

The system runs on a schedule, and a cleaning once a year keeps it looking the way it did the first night. If anything ever fails, the manufacturer's warranty on the fixtures and our 2 year workmanship warranty cover it.

Pricing

What Does It Cost?

$3,000 to $15,000+

Most projects fall between $3,000 and $15,000 or more, designed and installed.

What sets the number is how many fixtures the design calls for and how far the wire has to run to reach them. Lighting the front elevation of the house sits near the bottom of the range. A full property with the facade, specimen trees, walkways, a driveway, and a patio or outdoor living space sits near the top.

Plenty of people start with the front of the house and add the back yard or the trees a season or two later. We design with that in mind, sizing the transformer so there is room to grow instead of starting over when you expand.

What moves the price
  • How many fixtures the design calls for
  • Size of the property and total wire run
  • What you want lit: facade, trees, walkways, patio, water features
  • Fixture selection and finish

Every quote is free and firm. We walk the property, show you the plan, and give you the exact number before you commit to anything.

Landscape lighting questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • It is a designed system of low voltage fixtures placed around your property to light it after dark. Uplights wash the front of the house and pick out trees, path lights make walkways safe, and accent fixtures pull out the details you never see at night. Done well it makes the house look better than it does in daylight.

  • Most projects run between $3,000 and $15,000 or more. The number tracks how many fixtures the design calls for, how far the wire runs, and how much of the property you want covered. A front facade package sits near the bottom, a full property with the house, trees, walkways, and a patio sits near the top. Quotes are free.

  • The front of the house, specimen trees, garden beds, walkways and steps, driveways, patios and decks, pergolas, water features, retaining walls, and flagpoles. Most designs mix a few of these. We walk the property with you at dusk and point out what will actually read once the sun is down.

  • A little, once a year. These are lights that live outside, so they attract bugs and pick up dirt over a season, mulch and growing plants can creep over a fixture, and aiming drifts a little over time. A yearly cleaning and once over keeps the system running well and looking the way it did the week it went in. We offer an optional annual maintenance plan if you would rather we handle it.

  • No. Wire is tucked into a narrow slit in the bed or lawn edge rather than trenched, and it closes back over within a mowing or two. We work around root zones and existing plantings. When we leave, the only sign we were there is the lighting.

  • Kit fixtures from a big box store are usually undersized, aimed by guess, and wired on a transformer that cannot carry the run, so they dim at the far end and fail after a season or two. We size the transformer and wire to the actual load, use fixtures built to stay outside for years, and aim every one of them at night when we can see what the light is doing.

  • It is the one improvement you see every single night. It makes the house safer to walk up to, harder to approach unnoticed, and better looking from the street. And because you own the system, the fixtures carry the manufacturer's warranty, with terms that vary by product line, plus our 2 year workmanship warranty, it is not something you are replacing in a few years.
